Tom Blicher is in his seventh year as the Operations Manager for Joyce Center at Notre Dame, having been promoted in the winter of 2000. He spent his previous 11 years as the Senior Sound Technician for the Athletic Department. In his new capacity, as the Operations Manager, he continues to oversee the Technical Services Department as well as the Maintenance and set-up crew, the Athletic Department Graphic Artist and the Receiving Clerk. During his tenure, in the Technical Services office, Blicher helped design and install sound systems in the Athletic Department. These included the Arena, Fieldhouse, Monogram Room, Rolfs Aquatic Center and RecSports, Eck Baseball Stadium and the 1997 renovation of Notre Dame Stadium. Previously, Blicher had worked with the Stagehand Local, in the Joyce Center, on many entertainment acts. Some of these included, Elvis Presley, John Denver, Neil Diamond, Petula Clark, Bob Hope, Frank Sinatra, Bill Cosby, The Eagles, The Jackson Five, Kenny Rogers, KISS, Ice Capades, Disney on Parade and many, many more. Born March 22, 1950, in Jackson, Mich., Blicher is married to the former Cynthia Freeman, a native of Union Mills, Ind. Cynthia is a 1973 graduate of Purdue and a 1989 graduate of IUSB with a Masters in Education. The couple has two daughters: LeeAndra, a 2002 Purdue graduate and Ashlee, a 2007 graduate from Indiana University-South Bend. |
