2005 NCAA Division I Men's Golf Central Regional

May 21, 2005

Recap |  Quotes

Junior Mark Baldwin pumps his fist after sinking a putt during Friday's second round at the NCAA Central Regional. Baldwin finished tied for 50th at 10-over par 220.

Sophomore Cole Isban sparkled throughout the NCAA Central Regional, winding up tied for 30th place at seven-over par 217. His score of 146 through two rounds was a new school postseason record.

Notre Dame's Warren Golf Course hosted its first-ever NCAA postseason event with the appearance of the 2005 NCAA Central Regional. It turned out to be the most challenging of the three NCAA regional sites this year, with no team finishing under par and only one even managing to stay within 10 strokes of par (Augusta State at 9).

Despite having been on the job less than four months, Notre Dame head coach Jim Kubinski led the Irish to a 58-35-4 (.619) record this spring, along with their second consecutive BIG EAST Conference title and NCAA regional berth. He also nearly piloted Notre Dame to its first NCAA Championship appearance since 1966.
