Glatzel Named Men's Lacrosse National Player Of The Week

May 16, 2000

NOTRE DAME, Ind. ---- Notre Dame junior attack Tom Glatzel (Ellicott City, Md.) has been selected the Warrior/Inside Lacrosse Men's Division I national-player-of-the-week after leading the 13th-ranked Irish to their 15-13 upset of fifth-ranked Loyola in the first round of the 2000 Men's Lacrosse Championship on Sunday (May 14).

Glatzel scored four goals and dished off three assists to earn Notre Dame's its second-ever NCAA tournament win and first-ever win over the Greyhounds in 11 meetings. He tallied all four of his scores in the first half, accounting for nearly half of Notre Dame's 10-goal output in the first half. In addition to the four goals he scored in the first half, two of his three assists came in the first 30 minutes.

Glatzel, a 13-game starter, leads the team with a team-high 37 goals and 17 assists for a team-best 54 points. His 37 goals ranks seventh all-time for goals in a season. In 34 career games, Glatzel has 65 goals and 33 assists (98 points).

Notre Dame heads into its quarterfinal matchup versus fourth-seeded Johns Hopkins (8-3) with a 10-3 mark and are riding a seven-game win streak, the longest since the 1996 campaign. The 10 wins are the most since 1994 when the Irish finished with a 10-2 record.
